What’s Happening at Kacholo: An Inside Look at Our 8th Year of Chilli Production

As we enter our 8th year of chilli production in Zimbabwe, we’re excited to share some key updates from the ground. At Kacholo, our mission remains consistent: delivering high-quality, traceable dried African chillies to global partners, while supporting the farmers who grow them.

Midway Through Seedbed Season

We’re currently halfway through our seedbed stage—a crucial part of the season where precision and planning set the tone for success. This is where the journey of our chilli varieties for sale begins, with seedlings carefully cultivated for strong, uniform growth.

What We're Planting

This season’s lineup features three standout types of dried chillies:

  • Bird’s Eye Chillies

  • Paprika

  • Cayenne

We’ve notably increased our volume of Bird’s Eye chillies to meet rising global demand. As a committed bird’s eye chilli supplier, we’re scaling up production and expanding our footprint by onboarding new smallholder farmers across additional regions.

These varieties are the backbone of our offer as a premium chilli supplier in Africa, prized for their flavour, colour, and versatility.

What’s New This Season?

To ensure more consistent availability of chilli varieties for sale, we’ve expanded our winter crop. This allows us to extend our production cycle and strengthen year-round supply—a key advantage for food manufacturers and distributors.

We’ve also opened a new farming zone, bringing more growers into our network and deepening our impact on rural livelihoods.

Our Team in Action

Our Field Extension Officers (FEOs) are working closely with growers, reviewing last season’s results and guiding improvements. This technical support helps us maintain the high standards expected from a bulk chilli exporter in Zimbabwe.

We’re also testing new crop protection products to increase resilience and yields—keeping our premium chilli production aligned with EU and global requirements.

In parallel, we’re upgrading our drying infrastructure to meet international food safety specs, ensuring all our types of dried chillies are processed with full traceability and consistency.

Milestones

We’re proud to report that we’ve hit all volume and contract targets for the season. As we celebrate 8 years of eco-friendly chilli farming, we’re building momentum toward greater scale and impact.

Growing Global Demand

Despite healthy supply on our end, the global market is experiencing a chilli shortage. This has created exciting new opportunities, and we’ve acted fast—securing long-term partnerships with buyers across Europe and beyond.

New offtake markets now include:

  • Germany

  • Italy

  • The Netherlands

As a bulk chilli exporter from Zimbabwe, we’re meeting varied client needs through both sea and air freight—balancing speed and freshness for global delivery.

Learnings & Challenges

This year has underscored the power of agility. Our ability to meet demand quickly, while maintaining premium quality, has helped us grow our client base and reinforce our position in the chilli supply chain.

By being consistent, responsive, and proactive, we’ve strengthened our reputation as a dependable premium chilli supplier in Africa.

The Bigger Picture

As we look ahead, our focus remains on:

  • Improving farmer yields

  • Expanding our sustainable farming model

  • Maintaining fair and stable pricing

  • Building transparent, long-term relationships with buyers

At Kacholo, every step we take supports our goal of producing carbon-conscious agribusiness with real, measurable impact, from our solar-powered packhouse to our wildlife-friendly farming zones.

Whether you're sourcing dried African chillies, comparing chilli heat levels (Scoville), or searching for a reliable bird’s eye chilli supplier, we’re here to deliver.
